congolese minor aged 11 application to join parent d visa

Post by Fidel ET » Mon Jul 12, 2010 2:44 am

Hi ,i am an irish citizen married to a congolese national with right to remain and who is currently awaiting naturalisation having applied earlier this year.
We want to apply for a d visa on behallf of his 11 year old daughter who is currently in Congo and whose mother died last year. we must apply through pretoria south africa. It is very difficult for us to arrange to have documents sent from congo to pretoria .Instead we have had them couriered to `ireland and then we will in turn translate then send to irish embassy in pretoria to back up the online application.
My questions are as follows
is it possible for us to send the documents to the visa section in dublin instead of pretoria and then hopefully if approved we can send the documents back to congo by courier. Will the young age of the applicant be taken into consideration and allow us to make application on her behalf from ireland.
Secondly any have any idea of the time taken to reach decision.

and finally the list of documents call for notarised translations of birth cert does this mean certified by translators or certified and then notarised by solicitors. appreciate any replies thank you in advance!!

visa office in dublin do not process any visa applications, just re-entry. we also had to send docs to egypt, even if it was still far away from the original country. no exceptions. we posted application to egypt from ireland.
so you will have to post all the docs to pretoria and await for the decision. the time frame varies from embassy to embassy and it depends on your circumstances. our case was straight forward for c visit visa so we were approved within a month. some other cases may take longer.

Hi,

I was able to bring my Dad here from Africa, Congo-Brazzaville to visit Ireland in 2007. I applied for his visa here in Dublin Burgh Quay. It took 3 weeks.
Document
------------
0. Document shipping: DHL (use work address)
1.visa forms completed by me and sign by my Dad.
2. Invitation letter from me with my visa
3. my birth certificate showing he's my dad
4. Bank statement current account with at least 5K.
5. 3 month Payslips

NOTE:
she's a minor therefore all you need is you the guardian to sign on her behalf.

Also state that you are travelling to Africa to get her so that you travel together. Make a travel reservation showing dates you are going and coming with her.

Good luck,

Nana

unfortunately, burgh quay do not deal with visa applications anymore... i know, if they still did it would make life much easier for many applicants.
we received the visa in june 2010 from egypt, and no other option to apply was available (we enquired).

thanks for your replies.
okay so it seems we cannot avoid applying to pretoria south africa.cant risk losing documents and passport in post as they are just too hard to get in the first place. heres what im thinking,
online application followed by documents by dhl courier to south africa, requesting collection by courier after visa decision is made documents can then be delivered by courier to Congo kinshasa on our behalf.
Fingers crossed!!!No point in booking air tickets or making travel plans until we have a visa.
thank you for all replies and opinions
