Bringing parents to US from England

Post by skruse812 » Tue Jul 20, 2010 11:40 am

I came to the US as a student 20 yrs ago - am married to a US citizen and am a resident alien. We would love to move my parents here to live close to us, but are not exactly sure how to start. One of the biggest issues is medical coverage - they have both been hospitalized while visiting us before and it caused a great bit of difficulty. They are both game to move here, however, we don't know how best to cover them medically - they both take quite a few medications - they both have angina and my mum is diabetic.

I printed off I-130 Petition for Alien Relative, but we are hesitant to do anything until we have a better idea medically.

Anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Thanks so much,
Sarah

Umm, you can't petition for your parents if you're just resident alien. You need to be citizen.

First, as darko pointed out, you need to naturalize. Second, if you want information about issues which are not directly immigration-related (such as medical insurance for your parents), your best bet is to post in the following forum:
