Within how much time does one have to travel to UK

Post by abhi01uk » Thu Jul 22, 2010 8:38 pm

My wife has subbmited her application to join me in the UK from Pakistan, my question is that within what time limit does she have to travel to the UK in?

Friends and family who have applied in the past say that when you recieve your passport you are given a letter saying you have to travel within 28 days.

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk web site in the frequently asked questions section it says
"The expiry date shown on the visa is the latest date on which you can arrive in the UK, but remember that this is also the last day on which you are permitted to stay in the UK"

I am assuming that the expiry date is 27months after the visa has been given as stated on the UK Border agency website,

Please see the link

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/partn ... lpartners/

So I am very confused please advice, although my wife has not recieved her visa yet she wants to spend Eid with her family before she travels.

You say "in the past" and I say, yes, at least two years ago!

Now that spouse visas are issued for 27 months, first entry to the UK using that spouse visa, really needs to be within the first 3 months 28 days, in order to avoid problems getting ILR before the expiry of the spouse visa.

Sorry to be sounding stupid, so does that mean aslong as she travels within 3 months she will be ok? as that will leave 24 months which is the minimum time required for ILR

thanks
