Living in the USA but not working there?

Post by geoffcapes » Mon Jul 05, 2010 12:34 pm

Hi,

As stated before I am 23 and work as an Account Manager here in the UK. I have no degree and no family in the USA.

Is it possible to rent or buy a property in the US of A and effectively live there.

Simply flying back to the UK every 3 or 6 months then flying directly back to US?

I ask this because I know you can only visit the states for 3 months at a time.

Can this be extended at all if you can support yourself?

For example I run an online business – which hopefully soon will support me fully. I could simply rent a place there – live of the earnings of my UK business – and fly back home every time my visa runs out.

How feasible is this?

Any help is very welcome.

Geoff

You are not allowed to work while visiting the US as a tourist - that includes online work. The visa waiver program lets you in for 90 days each time.

I am working outside the US on a 4 week on/off schedule. We would like to live in the US when I'm off. But how about my wife and children. (my wife has a B1 visa). Could the children go to school etc.?

You should open your own separate thread rather than post your question in somebody else's.
