TIER 1 Extensions : Bachelors or Masters Degree?

Post by WarisAli » Mon May 24, 2010 2:43 pm

INFORM
I got my TIER1 General visa before the April 2009 Masters degree requirement rule came into effect. I got points for Advanced diploma UK in Business Administration, a Level 6 qualification.

For TIER 1 extension I went to the UKBA points calculator website http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/pointscalculator and it only accepts points for a Masters degree to reach required 75 points.

QUESTION
Is the 30 points for Bachelors degree rule been approved? Why is it not on the UKBA website yet? If yes, would I need to show I have a Bachelors degree when applying for extension in 2012.

Can I get away with my existing Advanced diploma level 6 that was accepted at time of application.

I have an option to do a one year top up and get a BA Hons in Business if I start now with RDI UK http://www.rdi.co.uk as a distance learning program while I am workin here. Do you advise that?

Please kindly help to make a decision to join the degree course in next few weeks for the July or Sept intake.

For information there is also a full time tow evening a week Masters Degree program completed in one year from Birbeck College - University of London campus, http://www.bbk.ac.uk/ , for those of you who are considering getting 5 extra points for Masters or Phd 50 points as they have one year Phds too, Hurry as the intake date is Sept 2010.

please kindy help I am much obliged, and I am happy to contribute and wish you all the best and thank you for a great service you people are providing. May you be rewarded manifold.

thanks

Hi ,

It is approved .... Is this your degree before coming here and you applied your first TIER1 on it ????

Check with agency people as you are not allowed to study while you are on TIER1 visa . For remote learning , you have to check.

Check it before you do it with UK immigration body

Do you get enough time after your job to do it ???? I think Master and Phd's are big names
Thanks

Dear Ali,

thanks for replying,

I came on TIER 1 applying before April 2009 having lots of work experience, and got 30 points for Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from West London College, UK, a level 6 qualification.

This was accepted before April 2009. I want to ask you can I apply for an EXTENSION based on the same qualification that was accepted at first or now do I need to show a Bachelors or Masters?

Who do I write to , to ask if I can study as a part time evening or a distance learning student. How do I write to the UK immigration body?

Time, I dont think there is ever going to be enough of it, only if we can prioritize it ,stay focused, say no to things not important and do what really matters to us, then we can do it. I feel.

thanks Ali,

please advise.

regards
Sadiq

TIER 1 Extensions : Bachelors or Masters Degree?

Post by WarisAli » Mon Jul 26, 2010 10:45 am

Dear Ali,

Thank you so much for reply and for this amazing helpful website. I am thankful.

<You Wrote> It is approved .... Is this your degree before coming here and you applied your first TIER1 on it ????

<Reply>Thanks to know, as it does not reflect if you take the points based test, does not give you 30 points for less than Masters? Can you advise?
Ali, it is not a degree, it is an ABE advanced DIPLOMA in business administration that is in the points based calculator on which basis I got 30 pints for my TIER 1 General in May 2009. My extension is now due in May 2012. Will they accept the existing criteria Advanced Diploma on which I was granted TIER 1 general visa or am I expected to study while I am working here for 3 years and get a Bachelors or a Masters degree to be eligible for a further 2 year extension? ILR Will I need a bachelors or a masters degree after the 2 year is extended and I apply for ILR?

<You wrote> Check with agency people as you are not allowed to study while you are on TIER1 visa . For remote learning , you have to check.

<Reply> Please can you kinldy let me know who to contact, the web address, tel no of the agency, who to write to and contact in this regard?

<You wrote> Check it before you do it with UK immigration body

<Reply> Please can you kindly let me know how i can check this, from who and what? As if I do need to apply the courses start in Sept.

<you wrote> Do you get enough time after your job to do it ???? I think Master and Phd's are big names

Ali, thanks, I see there would be no choice, I will need to "make" time, if I want to make a future, I need your expert and kind guidance how to steer and set my directions towards an extension and a ILR.

I am deeply thankful and indebted to you and everyone at work permit. Bless you all.

Kind regards
Waris Ali (Sadiq)
