Are foreign nationals supposed to pay towards a pension here

Post by Lilly10 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 1:57 pm

I am on a PSW visa at the moment.

In my previous job I used to pay tax and NI.

I have just started a better paying job for a big institution and on my first payslip, they have deducted tax, NI and a good amount of money for pension too....

Am I even entitled to a pension here and does everyone pay the same?

Please let me know before I go make further enquiries with the HR dept here.

Thanks!

1. Please make an effort to post your queries in the appropriate forum.
2. Please restrict your queries on this forum to immigration issues only.

This said, if your employer subscribes to a pension scheme or have one of its own for its employees, then pension contributions (dedcutions) may be expected as inclusion is usually automatic unless HR is advised to the contrary. If you wish to, you may choose to not contribute. Please check with HR.
