Hi
I'm a uk citizen planning to get married to my fiancee this year. She and her 9 year old daughter are currently on student visas which don't expire for another 18 months. We've been living together for a year and in that time I have been claiming child benefit. It says on both their passports that they are not allowed access to public funds. I even wrote this on the child benefit form, but was approved under my name. My question is when she and her daughter apply for a spouse visa, later this year, will it go against them that I have been claiming child benefit. I noticed the question on the spouse visa form that is the sponsor claiming public funds and which ones.
Would it be easier to repay back everything I've claimed before applying for the spouse visa?
Thanks
Colin
