Date of First Arrival Confusion: Nationality application

Post by sywahu » Thu Mar 23, 2006 11:53 am

I am sure this is a very common question on the board but the closest post I have found on this one is http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=5674 .

Unfortunately its still not very clear.

What date should I put down in section 3.1 of the natioanlity form? I was on student visa and was given work permit "in-country". I did not enter UK for settlement. Of course the guide just confuses first-timers like me and am not sure what to put down.

I am inclined to fill in the first arrival date on student visa.

Would this be correct?

thanks

I would say yes, that answer to the question is certainly justifiable.

Presumably you now have had ILR for a year, and have passed the Citizenship Test? And you were actually in the UK five years ago?

This would be correct... I was in similar situation and did not have any problems...

So first date of arrival... when you came to uk on student visa.

yep thats correct. 3 years student visa, 4 years WP and 1 year ILR.

I think I will put down first arrival date 8 years ago.

thanks

yes john I have. all the bits and pieces are complete and I just have to apply next month :)

wouldn't make a huge difference but travelling would be a LOT easier than it is now.
