Post by bshsmp » Wed Jul 21, 2010 2:31 pm

My mother(holds Indian passport + UK family visit VISA) is visiting to me in London from India. She wants to visit her sister in US who is a US citizen.

Could some one please help with the list of documents needed to be arranged for applying B2 family visit visa from London to US ?

And any other important things needs to be considerd while submiting the application.

Your mother cannot apply for the visa in London if she is only visiting here. She needs to apply in her country of residence.

In theory, your mother could apply for a visa at any US consulate in the world. In practice, it will be extremely difficult for the US consulate in London to confirm her ties to India, and whenever they have any doubts they will simply deny the visa. Remember that the officers always assume that the applicant is an intending immigrant, and it's up to the applicant to prove otherwise. So an application made in London will almost certainly result in a visa denial, which will make things more difficult in the future.

The London US Embassy website has nothing to say on this, but check the website of the US Consulate in Uruguay:
