Am I eligible for NHS services, Please guide

Post by HKRao » Mon Aug 02, 2010 12:11 pm

Hi All,

I am having t1 visa , which is valid from sept 2nd and I am planning to leave in sept 1 week. But I am carrying now and will be 29 weeks pregnanct at the time of travle.
Can i register for NHS services once i reach London, or i need to pay for my delivery? If NHS is eligible then how long will it take to register there.

Sorry if posted in wrong section.

Regards,
hkrao

Yes, you will be eligible to use NHS. Register with a General Practitioner near your residence as soon as you arrive in UK.

You will be able to register with NHS and get the normal primary medical care (GP) free of charge. But, you might be charged for your delivery hospital expenses if you do not have a job. Read para 4.27 in the below link. http://www.dh.gov.uk/prod_consum_dh/gro ... 113267.pdf

And also check with your doctor if you are safe to travel by air. Also check with airliner. Most of the airliners will need a certificate from doctor that you are safe to travel after entering the 28th week of pregnancy.

I think it is fine if one of you have job. But please check with NHS.
