If you get married in India is that legal for the UK?

So if the visa gets refused could i go to India and get married?

Yes of course it is, if it is carried out within that country's
marriage legislation

Why would you want to go back if visa is refused. You must be already married if you are applying for a spouse visa

Sorry for the confusion - we have applied for a Settlement visa - Fiancé visa
Fiancé returning to UK 18/08/2010!!!

So you have applied for a fiance visa and if that is refused you want to fly back to India to get married and want to know whether that marriage will be accepted in UK.

The answer is yes you can go back and get married, though it will prove expensive as you will have to pay the full fee all over again :)
