Leaving the UK while waiting for application

Post by soshe » Sun Aug 08, 2010 3:51 pm

Hi,
I graduated this June and have been awarded my degree. I'm getting ready to apply for the PSW, but am going back to my country later this month.

I was wondering about the following:
1. As I'm going back soon, should I apply for the PSW from within the UK? What if I apply from within the UK, and leave this country while waiting for a response? (I would still have a valid address)
2. Besides the funds required, are there any differences between applications made from within vs outside the UK? (I know this is a silly question, but will it affect the chances of making a successful application?)
3. What is the difference between an appeal and an administrative review?

I'd appreciate any information on this. Thanks so much!

1. Will you be able to travel outside UK without your passport?
2. Read the relevant policy guidance.
3. Applications submitted outside the UK are subject to admin. review. Applications submitted within UK may be subject to appeal (if given the right).

Hi sushdmehta, thanks for your reply. I know that administrative reviews are for applications made from outside the UK, the appeals are for those made from within the UK, but I still don't quite understand the differences between an admin review and an appeal.

The ukvisas.gov.uk website (for applicants outside the UK) states that 'Outside the United Kingdom a refusal of entry clearance under PBS does not attract a full right of appeal.'
---Could someone be kind enough to explain what this means?

Thanks much in advance.
