Provisions for 5 year workers

Post by linn » Tue Aug 10, 2010 12:45 pm

Has anybody noticed this police update? Those who have worked over 5 consecutive years and in the process of LongTerm Residency/Naturalisation will be exempted from the requirement to hold a work permit but have to renew the visa on annual basis instead of 2-year basis:http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Pr ... ar_workers

I don't know what the significance of "exempt from the requirement to hold a work permit" would be for those affected, what I really care is I will have to pay extra fee for visa renewal and re-entry with the annual renew policy. Damn it!

This is old news really, I've got my "temporary Stamp 4" almost a year ago. BTW, it does say "The concession is being made irrespective of whether the person is currently an applicant for long term residence.", so your assertion "in the process of LongTerm Residency/Naturalisation" is not valid.

What is "temporary Stamp 4"? Did you mean you get a year stamp after you have 5 years working visa?

Last year I had my third working visa renew for 2 years, does it mean I will get that "temporary Stamp 4" on my next renew as well?

What I meant was the person would normally apply for long term residence or Citizenship after having 5 years work visa/permit, so the new policy would mostly affect them(including me).

Yes, temporary Stamp 4 which is given for a year. Basically, if you have worked for 5 years or more on WP/WV, you will be given that temporary stamp 4. I think you cannot even get a new WP or to renew your WV after working for 5 years, even if you wanted to. Same apply if you worked on a "Green Card" WP for 2 years -> DETE will not issue a second GCWP.

People who are applying for LTR are optimists with too much money, IMO :) It is easier to wait a bit and get free WCATT stamp 8)

I did not apply for LTR but applied for Citizenship, not sure if it is correct decision or not. The LTR takes around 2 years and costs 500 for 5 year visa, and citizenship takes around 2.5 years and costs 950 to get a passport, why people still apply for LTR?

Agree.
