How quickly can my Russian Wife get a Portuguese Visa?

Hi all!

I'm a British Citizen and have booked a holiday villa in Portugal for a week commencing 11th Sept.

My wife is Russian and will need to get a Visa (I presume).

She has called the embassy and the earliest appointment is the 9th September!

Will they issue a visa the same day?

If not, is it worth paying extra to one of these companies on the internet? (although I'm not keen on sending all our documents to a company I've never dealt with before!).

Any help is apreciated as I'm now starting to worry!

They don't issue on same day, they send it back in post about a week or two later - make sure you give them a recorded delivery envelope to return it in.

If they grant it that is!

Not sure about those expediters - I thought you had to apply in person. Could be wrong tho - might be your only option, those summer months are dead busy, three months is normal, 9th Sept is very good and if she's not actually booked it it will have gone now.
