Documents for dependant: is rental contract required?

Post by t1g2010 » Fri Aug 27, 2010 10:57 pm

Hi, I obtained my Tier 1 one week ago in the UK and my dependant is going to apply outside the UK.

I have read many people supply their rental contacts in the UK as a supporting document. I read through the entire policy guide but did not find such requirement. Can someone please clarify this?

2nd question: I have been in the UK for more than 12 months, which means fund for dependant should be £533. What sort of documents do I need to provide to prove I have been in the UK for more than 12 months? Put the question in a different way, do I need to prove this at all because the UKBA should have proper records in their system. I cannot find anything regarding this in the policy guide.

Basically, I understand from the dependant policy guide that two documents are certainlly necessary: 1) bank statement to show sufficient fund + 2) marriage certificate. But I often come across discussion here with many more documents prepared (such as NI or payslips of the main applicant). Can someone please explain this?

I will appreciate if someone can help with a list of documents for dependant application that is NOT made together with the main applicant. Many thanks in advance.

1) Rental contract/Tenancy Agreement is not mandatory, Mrs. Renzokuken got her dependant visa without this document. Your maintenance fund should cover for accommodation cost need for your dependant.

2) I believe the UKBA has record on this, I guess they will look on the entry stamp in the passport to verify. In my case, I also provided employer letter to support this.

Regards,

Renzo

Thank you renzokuken for your explaination.
I dont intend to send my passport over to my dependant. How will they check my stamps to see how long I have been living in the UK?

You need to send the copy of your visa page (there is a entry stamp there when you first came to UK. Don't worry about it, they have the record in their computer anyway

Thank you very much for helping.
I have just gotten my Tier 1 switched from Work Permit within the UK (so no entry stamp on it). I guess I will need to provide photocopy of my old work permit with the entry stamp and photocopy of my new Tier 1 visa.

The documents my dependant is going to submit are as follows. Can you please help to double check? Thank you.

1. Marriage certificate
2. Bank statements (past 3 months and less than 1 month old)
3. His UK employer's letter (he was employed in the UK but unfortuanately he was on a business trip. he cannot return to the UK because I just got my visa and his visa became invalid.)
4. Our joint ultility bill in the UK
5. photocopy of my old work permit with the entry stamp and photocopy of my new Tier 1 visa
6. The dependant application form
7. A cover letter

Entry Stamp is not needed. Provide a copy of the latest valid visa.
