Hi there,

I would like to know how long should a prospective employer needs to advertise to apply for a work permit for non EU employee? If employer advertise 2 weeks every 2 months for the past 3 years, what are the chances of getting the work permit?
My friend's work permit application was refused because the employer only advertised for 2 weeks in various media, ie internet etc. If the employer appeals, what are the chances of the work permit going through?

To make the case more clear, you should explain what title of Job is that.
I am asking this question because in some jobs such as secretarial jobs, administrative jobs it is next to impossible to get the work permit.

Thanks for your reply. The job she applied for is as Information Manager with the NHS Trust. It is IT and Healthcare based.It is related to records management and project management. She was working with them prior to the appointment. She went through 3 different interviews to secure the job. Unfortunately, they declined because they said the employer only advertised and left it open for 2 weeks and not 28 days. The employer advertised online for 2 weeks.But the job has been open for the last 3 years. There were 25 'resident' candidates who weren't successful or didn't meet the criteria specified. The job was paying £30K per annum.

Please advice whether an appeal will be successful.On what grounds can the employer appeal?
