UKBA date of visa application

Post by Zim1 » Thu Sep 09, 2010 12:42 pm

Hi guys!

I'm a recent graduate and have just applied for a PSW visa by post . Now my question is what date does the UKBA consider the date of application? Is it the day they receive the application?. I'm asking because UKBA received my application on the 6th of September 2010 and acknowledged receipt the same day,My visa had expired on the 5th of September 2010. I held on to application because the 5th was the 90th day where required funds would have been in my account. I have just come across a maintenance section on UKBA website that says one has to have held required amount for at least 3 months before the date of application. Should I be worried?

Many thanks

Many thanks sushdmehta. Now I'm getting really stressed out because it says the date of postage is what they consider date of application. I posted my documents on the 4th with my visa expiring on the 5th. My bank statement had the required funds until the 5th of September and I posted the statements separately on the 6th with consultation from the UKBA who advised me where to post, cover letter etc.

Do you think this will be at the discretion of the case worker or my application could be in trouble?. I need to know so I can plan well in advance. They have deducted the application fee from my account already and have sent an acknowledgment letter dated the 6th of September.

Many thanks!

As long as the bank statements get into your application file or get to the caseworker who gets assigned to your case, you'll be fine.

Again many thanks for your advice sushdmehta.

But my main worry is even if the case worker gets the bank statement, It will be one day older than the application date which is the date I posted the application as outlined on the link you gave me. i.e I posted on Saturday the 4th and the 90 day maturity was Sunday 5th,and i posted the statements on Monday the 6th.

Hope for the caseworker to ignore the minor details - date of application and the last date of the 3 month period.

Nothing you can do about it.

Funds requirement is for 90 days and not 3 months. This slight difference sometimes come as handy advantage.
