Need advice please

Post by Baliw » Sat Sep 18, 2010 3:53 pm

Hi, I have just found this forum and hopefully someone here can help me with my dilemma.
I am a UK citizen who has a Filipino gf, my brother is getting married next July and I am hoping to bring her over for 1 week to attend the wedding with me. She is in university doing a Pharmacy course and lives with her sister. We are getting engaged the next time I go there, which will be Dec/Jan, but due to my brothers wedding, we have said that we would get married in 2012 in the Philippines.
I have saved all talks and proof of phone calls, also photos of me and her and her family and me, boarding cards, hotel receipts etc... and it would be more than once I have visited her when we apply for a visa.
I know that if I applied for a fiancee visa, I would have to prove that we would get married within 6 months, which we are not doing, so that is not possible. So the only visa is the tourist one, can anyone give me some help or guidance on the possibility of getting this.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any replies that I get.

Just make sure she has proof of ties to the phillipines when she applies. If she's a student, then proof of this will be required.

Sorry, what would be good to show proof of ties to the Philippines? Also, I read that she would need a minimum of 300,000 pesos in her bank account too, is that right, as I would be sponsoring/looking after her when she is here.

Property ownership, proof of study, proof of employment.

I just googled how much that would be in gbp and that's a tremendous amount for a week! I was okay showing £200 for two weeks (but I had proof of booked hotel accommodation too) when I was a vistor three years ago. Deffinitely don't need that much money.

I thought it was a lot too. The proof of study we could get no problem and I could suggest a letter from the Prof to say that she can have the 1 week vacation too. She does not work though and she lives with her sister, therefore does not have any property.

Oh no, I meant those were examples. She doesn't need all of those. Proof of study is enough.

Ah ok, sorry I misunderstood. Sounds pretty much straight forward then.
I will start printing the forms off and going through them with my GF, thank you so much for the information that you have given me. I will keep checking here and will update on the progress too. Thank you once again. :D
