Visa valid for another 12 months - how does extension work

Hi,

I have a valid Tier 1 visa till Jan 2012. However, I am still in India.
I did visit UK for 2 weeks in Aug 2010, but was not able to bag an offer because of shortage of time.

I am thinking of resigning from my current firm and going to UK sometime in Feb 2011. I am confident of bagging an offer if I give myself a month or maximum two. But I would like to know how does the whole extension process work?

Since I would be in UK working only for 9-10 months (assuming I get a job in March 2011), would I be eligible for an extension? Will there be any issues due to the fact that I dont have 1 year payslips in UK? Also, would there be any issues in going again to UK on a second visit considering my first visit was in Aug and my second visit will be almost 5-6 months after that?

Also, in a worst case scenario, if I dont get a Tier 1 extension, would I be eligible for a Tier 2 visa to continue working in UK? If yes, whats the process for the same?

Yes, if you qualify.

No, if you score enough points to qualify.
