Tier 2- Work base point

Post by mga1 » Sun Oct 03, 2010 5:21 pm

It has been over 2 years living and working in the UK - Tier 2- Work base point valid until Dec 2011. My question is my fiancee is a U.S Citizen with valid us passport and still living in the U.S. We have met each over 9 years while i was working in the U.S. Should we marry in the U.S or the U.K ? Her wish is to be in married someplace in Europe. Little undecided! I have seen that she is welcome to be in the U.K for up to 6 months.I would very much would love for her to move here to the UK for much longer time ,since i tend to be here for another 3 plus years! My income will support her, no need for health insurance this will be covered ,and no need for her to work. Housing is not an issue neither. She is a student working on her BA in International Business Science. Is now a Accountant - Credit Analyst / Collections Specialist. What should be the best road for us to take? Too much to sort!

I would like to know the following

1. Can she join me here in the UK on a long term basis? I can stand as a sponsor for her
2. Can she come down to UK on a work visa?

Would like to know on the different options at my disposal for my fiancee to join me here in the UK.

1. Since you and your fiancee have been living apart from each other, you'll not been able to provide evidence(s) of relationship akin to marriage for at least 2 years, which is required if your dependent wishes to apply for entry clearance as unmarried partner of a Tier 2 migrant.
2. She may apply for any PBS category that she qualifies for.

Personal suggestion - marry outside the UK (e.g. - in the US or your own home country), register your marriage as per law of that country and then apply for EC as dependent (spouse) of Tier 2 migrant.
