Philippines marriage license is it recognised in UK

My question is simple.

Is a marriage that was made in a Christian church in the Philippines with a marriage license between 2 Philippine nationals recognised in the UK.

I have been told the Philippines marriage license is not recognised in the UK.

Marriage licence is a notice to allow the marriage, and is valid for only 120 days from date of issue. Is your marriage registered with the government authority and do you have a marriage certificate issued by a government authority?
