Tier 1 application by Indian national resident in Norway

Post by betogether » Sun Oct 31, 2010 8:16 am

Hi All Experts,

I am almost ready to apply for Tier 1 from Norway and I saw something which is making me confuse big time.
I am in Norway on Work Permit and working here since August 2008.
I was in impression that I can apply for Tier1 General Migrant from Norway as an Indian citizen. But I read info below in Norway World Bridge Section.

I read the info below on Worldbridge:

"If you are a visa national (citizens of countries who always need a visa to enter the UK) and you are not legally resident in the Norway you can only apply for a visit visa, European Economic Area family permit or a ‘creative and sporting’ points-based system Tier 5 visa. Visa nationals who apply for any of these visa categories may experience delays because their visa application will be referred to their country of origin or country where they are legally resident. The UK Border Agency will not be able to process applications for any other visa categories from visa nationals who are not legally resident in Norway. Applicants should return to their country of origin or the country where they are legally resident and apply for a visa there.

Please suggest whether I can apply from here or not? If not I am in big trouble as my plans will be ruined.

I am registered in Norway but my passport is Indian passport so I dont know whether I am under Legal Resident in Norway or not.

Thanks and Regards

You are living legally in Norway at present (You have a valid work visa).
All the description mentioned is for people NOT legally in Norway.
"If you are a visa national (citizens of countries who always need a visa to enter the UK)
Yes, Indians need a visa for any U.K. visit.

and you are not legally resident in the Norway you can only apply for a visit visa
You are on a work permit i.e. legally.

Why the confusion.

Thanks allot dear,

I am quite relive.
I also agree with you but got confused just because word "NOT LEGAL RESIDENT" means; do I need to be Permanent Resident or Work Resident Permit is OK (Because Work Resident Permits are always temporary)?

I am ready to go for my application on 4th Nov.
All other preparation is good to go for me so wish me luck!

Thanks allot for your quick response once again. You save my Sunday :)

If you or anyone have any added points please suggest.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

So finally did you apply for the Tier1 as my case is exactly same as you. I have a temporary residence work permit here to work for a certain company.
