UK travel for Dependent query - Senior Member please help

Dear Senior Members,

Please understand my scenario as mentioned below and guide me by answering my query.

1) Myself (on Indian Passport) - Hold Tier2 UK Visa - Valid till 22/05/11 - I am currently residing in UK.
2) My Wife (on Indian Passport) - Hold My Tier2 UK dependent Visa - Valid till 22/05/11 - My wife is currently residing in india
3) My Son (who is less than 5 years holds USA Passport Valid till 04 Sept 2011) - Hold My Tier2 UK dependent Visa - Valid till 22/05/11 - My son is currently residing in india with my wife.

My wife and my son accompanied me to UK for short duration of one month and after that they moved back to india.

Now, I want to switch only my wife dependent Tier2 UK Visa to Tier1 Visa and we would be filing application in Nov month this year. This means my son will still be dependent on my Tier2 Visa.

My Wife and My son Travel Plan to UK is sometime in Feb 2011 or Early March 2011

All my queries are related to UK travel eligibility requirement for my son visa and his impending US passport renewal.

Q1: Can my wife on Tier1 Visa travel to UK with my son who holds a Tier2 dependent visa (from me)? Is it a UK travel eligibility requirement that I should also accompany my wife and my son as my son visa would be dependent on me?

Scenario: If my wife is traveling to UK in March say March 10, 2011 at this moment my son tier2 visa will still be valid but it will be due to expire on 22/05/2011 i.e. 2 months 12 days away and my son US passport will be due to expire on 04/09/2011 i.e. 5 months 25 days away.

Q2: Is there a UK travel eligibility requirement which put travel constraint on Date of travel to UK with respect to VISA validity expiration duration and Passport Expiration duration must be within certain limits?
example: Something like a person should travel to UK on DATE such that on that travel date (or day) the UK Visa validity should be at least 3 months away from expiration and also passport expiry date should be atleast 6 months away from expiration.

Q3: Do I need to take any extra precaution with respect to Travel Date or Passport renewal or any suggestion?

Once my son arrive in UK; I plan to go for US passport renewal (US consulate takes 10-14 days for issuing renewal) + My and my son Tier2 extension filing (this will be taken care by my company). The only worry is if I need to renew my son passport now or anytime before my family travel then I need to travel to india as both parents are required to be present in the consulate along with child for US passport renewal.

Seniors - Please can you advice me so that I can plan things accordingly.

I have searched UKBA website but couldn't get much info about my query.
Also, searched various travel forums and have also talked to travel agents in UK and india.

What I have gathered so far is:
1) Since my son holds US passport; UK visa would not be issue as for 6 months stay US citizen do not need UK visa and anyhow i would apply for visa extension for my son after he come here because he will be staying longer than 6 months with me.

2) The passport validity (or expiry) for all travellers entering UK ( i.e. for one way travel.) must be more than 6 month to the date when they enter UK.
This means i need to ensure that my son must reach UK before 3 March 2011 or else i have to apply for his US passport renewal.

Guys please correct me if my observation is wrong.
