changing address during registration process

Hi, I have to move at the end of November and my registration has only been processing for just over 2 months now. In the letter they say to send in writing my change of address. Has anyone done this and do you have any advice?

I'm Canadian, living in NY so I would be contacting the British Embassy in Washington. In the letter saying they've forwarded my application there is no reference number.
