Grandmother as nanny for kids

Post by obbieobbie » Sun Nov 07, 2010 5:30 pm

Hi

My wife got ILR this year (next year she can apply for BC) and she will like to bring her mother in the UK to stay with us and babysit our kids (2 and 4 years old) so she can start working.
Her mother is 60 years old and she is reciving full pension in her country.
What is the best visa we can apply for her so she can stay as much as we like with us?

Thank you for answers.

O.

There is no visa that allows a parent / relative of a settled migrant to travel to the UK for the purpose of babysitting / acting as a child minder for the child(ren) of the settled migrant.

And if you apply for a visit visa and state the purpose of visit as given in your initial post, the application will be refused for sure.

I agree, there isn't one.

Thanks to all for quick answers!

As far as I can find best option is 6 months visitor visa and we can reapply every year for new one

Correct me if I'm wrong: persone can stay on visitor visa max 6 months in year period?

Thank you

Yes, she can stay 6 months out of any 12. But she's not allowed to work, and that includes acting as a nanny for your children.
