Income from my home country applying from UK

Post by jason32 » Mon Nov 15, 2010 2:33 pm

Hi Guyz,

This forum was very helpful when I applied for my Tier 2 now I need information about Tier 1. I've been on Tier 2 for the last 16 months but my company got liquidated so I've been made redundant. Now I need to apply for Tier 1. Heres the situation:

Points calculator says I need to show at least £70K if I use my income from UK but I made only £31K here but I also have a business back home in Pakistan and made about Rs.1.5M and combining both gives me enough points to apply. I want to know if I could show them this income as well if I am applying from within the UK or do I have to go back?

I dont have much time left to make the decision so looking for suggestions asap.

Thanks,

You may use the income from self-employment in Pakistan to claim points for earnings, but you cannot apply uplift ratio to these earnings.

If your current leave is still valid, you may apply from within the UK. See also If your job ends.

Yes my visa is valid till june 2012, it says I need to find a new employer within 60 days or I'll have to go back? is there any other solution to my problem?

As for my first question, the points calculator accepts my income from Pakistan and since Pakistan is in group D basically a lower income country then making Rs.1.5M gives me enough points. But want to know if I'll have to go back to my country to be able to gain those points or will be able to apply from here?

Thanks

Forget the PBS calculator and do income calculation manually, in the following manner:
Total income = Income from employment in UK (in GBP) + Income from self-employment in Pakistan while you were physically living and working in UK (convert into GBP and do not apply uplift ratio).

e.g.- Taking OANDA rate for today, PKR 1.5M = GBP 10845. So your total income (assuming employment + self-employment period in the last 12 months from today) is GBP 31K (Tier 2 employment) + GBP 10845 (income from self-employment in Pakistan while you were physically present in the UK) = GBP 41845.

If you qualify (which doesn't seem to be the case if you require income of GBP 70K), you may apply for Tier 1 from UK itself within the 60 days period.
