What's the deadline to travel on settlement visa?

Post by islamhady » Mon Nov 15, 2010 2:06 am

Hi,

I am a British citizen and I have been married for 5 years. My wife and I lived together in the UK for 18 months before leaving the UK. Recently we deiced to return to the UK and my wife applied for a settlement visa which was accepted on 7 July 2010. We were supposed to travel that month, however i occurred some problems in which the travel has been delayed until now.

My question is, her visa is valid until October 2012, and when we travel it could be 6 months into her visa, can she still travel or is there a deadline for her to enter the UK?

Much appreciate it if someone could answer my question as we are nervous that she wont be allowed entry to the UK.

Thanks

If she has the normal 27-month visa (282(a)), then she should travel within 3 months and 28 days from her visa's effective date.

Try asking for a better endorsement, if applicable.

Thanks for getting back to me. The 3 months and 28 days has now gone, can she still travel to the UK? Or do I have to apply for a new visa?

Where can I apply for a better endorsement?

She may enter the UK at any time within the validity of her visa, subject to 321A. However, without an additional "ILE" or "KOL REQ" endorsement or a sufficient visa expiry date extension, she may need to apply for an extension before being eligible for settlement.
