Moving to the UK from ROI

Post by Leon2010 » Tue Nov 02, 2010 6:16 pm

Hi, I'm just looking to see if anyone can help me with regards to claiming benifits in the UK.

I lived in the UK for a year last year and didnt claim anything as I was living with my x boyfriend whom was working.

I am currently living in back in Ireland but am thinking of moving back to the UK with my 2 children so they can be near their dad.

Can I claim anything being Irish? I was thinking of renting a place and claiming housing benfit?

Can I claim child benefit or anything else so we can live day to day in the UK?

Obviously, the childrens father will help where he can but I wouldnt like to put on him for everything.. My chilren are 7 and 1 so I cant go straight back into work atm.

sorry for all the questions, I havent a clue on what I can claim or if I can claim or where to even start.

Thanks for any advice..

Short and sweet.

Would be nice to get an easier answer than trying to make sense of a 49 page document.

No offence.

Thanks anyhow.
