Hello everyone,
I am a non british ex british army soldier , i spent 3 years and 7 months in the forces and left in november 2004, on discharged i didnt receive any letter from homeoffice or anything which lead me to think everything was fine. I was allowed to work and all.
Just early this year i applied for an SIA licence and part of the requirement was that they'll check my status which came back to them saying i have no status and am not illegal either.
So i contacted UKBA and explained to them my situations, now they have written to me , they explained that my exemption from immigration control ceased in november 2004 when i left the army, they understood i didnt receive the letter which i was meant to and they could see that in their system so they have now granted me 28 days leave to remain in the UK.
And have adviced me to either make arrangements to leave the UK or apply for further or indefinate leave to remain. Now after going through the homeoffice website and phone calls to homeoffice i still am not sure which form to fill out.
I want to apply for leave to remain because i joined the army at 18 from my country in 2001 and have ever since been living in the UK till now, i have an english girlfriend whom we've been together for about 3 years now and living together. Basically ive spent all my adult life in the UK 18 - 27(present) about 9 years.
Now i cant apply for indefinate leave to remain because the requirements was to at least spent 4 years in the army which i didnt, i only spent 3 years 7 months. So i have no idea what form to use and i need to know soon because my 28 days ends on the 14th of december 2010 next month basically.
Please anyone could you advice me on what form to fill out so i can get the ball rolling???
