Tier 1 2nd extension and over 90 days stay

Hello,

I have a Tier1 visa and would be completing 5 yrs in Jul 2012. But i landed in UK 1.5 months after my initial visa was granted in Jul 2007. Added to this i've stayed more than 90 days outside UK for personal reasons. Should i go for ILR after Jul 2012 or for Tier 1 2nd extension? And in which case i'm likely to succeed. Any help is much appreciated
