is proof of accommodtion required for tier 2 dependents?

Post by mkh » Fri Nov 26, 2010 3:26 pm

Hello:
I am on tier 2 general visa, arrived in UK 3 months back. Now my wife and son will be applying for dependent visa from outside UK. I have been staying with my friend (he has a spare room) in UK for the last few months and we have no legal contract or document from landlord, since last contract expired 3 years back and it was never renewed. I wish to rent a flat for my family/dependent only after they get the visa. I have been getting mixed ideas from various people about the accommodation requirement. The policy guidance doesnot mention anything about this clearly, or am I missing something. Please, moderators, let me know if I should get an accommodation proof/ it is required and mentioned clearly as a requirement in any of the policy/ documents for a tier 2 dependent.
I meet the maintenance requirement to support my dependents very well. please let me know.
Thanks and regards
MKH

hi

you need to have accomodation support as well. the reason behind that is to prove the homeoffice whether you can accomodate them or not.i would suggest you take out a rent agreement on ur name either on a new flat or the one u r staying at. 3 main things required dimensions of the room ,rental agreement and deduction of rent reflecting ur bank statement.
best of luck
