Visitor Visa for Parents Sponsors Documents how recent?

Post by PinkFloyd » Mon Dec 06, 2010 11:56 pm

Hi,

I will be applying for Visitors Visa for my parents in India around 15 Jan 2011 along with them while I am on my holiday trip back home. I will be using my NRE account to show for maintenance funds. Can someone please comment
1. How recent the statements should be at the time of application? I can get statements till 20 Dec. Can I use it when making application on 15 Jan.

2. The funds is in Indian rupees. What date should I use to get the conversion from INR to GBP? Should it be the date of statement or date of application.

3. The NRE account are 'static' i.e. I don't have regular transaction in it as I use it as a saving account. Could this cause any problem.

I have searched the forum for the answers but was unable to locate any specific info pertaining to my case. I will be really grateful if someone can provide pointers/opinions about best course of action.

Thanks!

Ideally the the last bank statements should be no more than 4 weeks old when applying. That will give a true reflection of your savings.

The statement should be in te currency of the country where the saving account is.

As long as you have sufficient money in the account and it belongs to you, it is irrespective whether it is a dormant account or one where it is used regularly.

Hope that helps.
