I am a trainee doctor and still awaiting my cos from my deanery.Visa expires in exactly a week today not sure if cos will be ready by then as it has taken very long over 2 months and still waiting.Am a gp trainee so missing out on my pay and posting as well.My question is I have a valid us visa,I know they cannot refuse my cos it is only a matter of time so want to go to the states so i dont become ilegal.Does anyone know if I can apply from the states please.Any ever been in this situation please advice.

I believe you can only apply at a UK consular post in a country which is either your own home country (nationality or residence) or where you are currently working. If you are just there on holiday I'm afraid I think they may refuse you and say you have to return to your home country in order to apply there. Sorry.

You can apply from any country where you have permission to stay for more than 6 months. There is no requirement that you need to be working.

The point is I doubt he has the right to be there over 6 months unless it's a residence visa or a work visa so the original point still stands.

so my understanding is that i will not be able to get my visa extension /entry clearance except it is in my country of origin then
