Do i have to stop child benefit if i have been out of the country for over a year but would return next year?

You should have stopped claiming child benefit as soon as you stopped paying tax/NI in the UK, if you have not, you have been claiming it under false pretenses and are liable to pay it back..

Quite simply you could be prosecuted for theft..and quite right too!
