What benifits will I be eligible for

Post by nvrkakarla » Fri Dec 03, 2010 2:09 pm

Hi,

I am currently on ILR and looking forward to apply for naturilisation this month. My wife is on ILR too. She is not working currently and is also expecting a baby shortly. I have not claimed any benifits what so ever till now.

Just wondering if there is any way to check which benifits will I be eligible for? tax credits, housing benifits etc....?

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers,
NK.

I am confused by your use of the words "will be". Are you asking about additional benefits you will be entitled to after Naturalisation, compared to now when you have "just" your ILR?

If that is your question then the answer is ..... none!

That is the answer because as soon as you got the ILR you became entitled to claim any benefit that your circumstances you are entitled to.

Or if you are asking about the situation following the birth, there will certainly be an entitlement to claim Child Benefit, and unless the family income is nicely over £50K, Tax Credits as well.

When is the baby due? I am just wondering whether your wife is entitled to claim HiPG? Health in Pregnancy Grant. That will depend upon the due date of the baby.

Hi John,

Thanks for your response.

I am aware that being on ILR, I am eleigible for the benifits, but just wondering is there is any website or so where I can check what I am eligible for now! Regardign the baby, the due date is May next year.
