Advise regarding Maintenance (Funds) for Tier 1 PSW

Post by clickajin » Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:47 am

Dear Experts,

Following is my situation with respect to the PSW visa. It would be great if you could guide me through this situation.

I am currently in the UK with my wife and our visas (currently Tier 4 General Student and Tier 4 General Student Partner respectively) are due to expire on the 30th of January 2011. I will obtain my postgraduate degree on the 15th of December and intended to apply for the PSW on the 20th of December.

I had requested my bank to provide the statements for the period September 1st 2010 onwards and when I received the statements today I notice that on 27th September 2010 the amount in the bank went to £270 primarily due to new accommodation deposit standing order etc. However, the amount in the bank was £1000+ from 30th September 2010 onwards. This particular account is a joint account having both our names on it. We also have a separate account in my WIFE's name which has consistently had £1000+ since September 1, 2010. Would I be able to use these statements and believe that I would obtain a visa (We need to show £1333 for the both of us)?

If not, I have consistently had £1000+ from September 30th, 2010 till date and would expect it to remain the same till December 30th, 2010. My issue now is that if I were to go to the bank and ask for statements covering September 30th to December 30th on the 31st of December, it would take 4 to 5 working days for me to receive the statements - assume it to be the 7th or 8th of January, 2011. Even if I were to apply on the 10th of January, wouldn't it be late considering the processing times for the visa at the UKBA? Or should I rather try to get a letter from the bank stating that I had £1000+ in the account for 3 months. If so, would you please share a format for the letter required?

Apologies for the rather detailed post, but I thought of being clear of the situation rather than giving a vague post saying HELP! Hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers, AjA!

You may apply any day before expiry of your visa.

The main migrant cannot rely on an account where is not an account holder for maintenance funds (for self).
