Applying for ILR but dont have savings

Post by wadhas » Thu Nov 25, 2010 12:48 am

HI,
I am a tunisian national on 2 years spouse visa , my wife is a british citizen.
We are in receipt of
Housing benefit , council tax benefit , child benefit , WTC and CTC.
all these are in my wife`s name except the Tax credit as it is joint claim also my name is on the housing benefit as the partner.
My wife has been made redundant so I am the only one working and my income is not great,it`s just enough to pay the bills and some of the rent.
I have no savings apart from the visa fee £1250

My question is ; is there any chance that my ILR application will be refused because we dont have any savings and we are in receipt of benefits.
please I need advice ASAP as I am applying in person in Croydon on the 6th December.

PS : since I came I didnt stop working and we only applied for benefits since 1 year as we had a baby.

Your ILR application is based mainly on your continued relationship more than money so your ILR will go through without any problem

Hi,
I am sorry I didnt keep u updated,I finally got my ILR at Croydon on the 6/12/2010 . That was a good experience , people there are really friendly, there wasnt a long queue , just a small one . There was some unfriendly people but thanks god they didnt treat my case. Most of the unfriendly people are foreigners (specially indians) they dont smile and they make u more stressed with complicating your situation, I witnessed some guys with his family and the lady was giving him hard time that he kept sweating poor man.

I gave them so many letters, some of them are joint and some are not .
I gave them more than 6 letters joint and from different sources.
The benefits will not affect you :
my wife claim Housing B , Council Tax B ,Child T C ,Working TC & Child B . I am included in all of them as the partener, but when u tick the application letter, dont tick anything in your name .
any help let me know .

Congratultions!

Many people feel stressed out when it comes to applying for ILR ESPECIALLY when on benefits but it is the relationship continuing which is the most important.

Your experience will help others in the same position

As a British citizen your wife is entitled to all the benefits mentioned.

It will NOT affect your ILR process

Chill out

Dear Mochyn,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

My main worries is that I did not work at all in the UK. When I could not find a job in the 1st 5 months when I arrived because of the recision, I decided to study till it gets better.

So, I had a BTEC distance learning highway design course. Then at the moment I am doing a Masters degree course at University.

In brief, I am worried because I have not worked at all. Does being a student get in consideration??!
