Tier 1 extension from outside of the UK

Post by kjordan » Tue Dec 28, 2010 4:57 am

Hi, I have a Tier 1 visa but have returned home to Australia for a couple of years.

I would like to extend my Tier 1 visa before it expires so I can go back to the UK in the next couple of years. Does anyone know whether its possible to extend the Tier 1 visa from outside of the UK? If so, which form do I need to complete?

He is not a new applicant though - IIRC it was previously possible to apply for an extension from outside of the UK as long as salary requirements are met without applying any uplift factor.

Vinny, are you saying this is now not possible with the new rules? The link you gave refers to new applicants but does not mention extensions, and of course in country extensions are not affected.

My understanding is that extensions are "leave to remain" applications, which are only possible from inside the UK.

That makes sense, in which case the OP should enter before their eisting visa expires then apply for an extension from wthin the UK.
