Can I entre UK if my student visa will end soon?

Post by LAK » Thu Dec 30, 2010 9:26 pm

I am a PhD student and have been back home (overseas) for christmas. My visa will expire in February and I intended to extend it. However, since I am sponsored I need some papers from my sponsor that will take a month from now(!!!) to approve. I was wondering, since my work is 'on hold' if I could enter the UK in January with my current visa and leave just a couple of days before it expires so I can renew it when my sponsor paper work is done. I can this way meet up with my supervisor and get some work sorted out. So is this possible? Do I need to have a minmum number of months on my visa to be able to enter the UK?

if your course is finished and you are out of country... your student visa can be revoked upon entering uk, since you no longer satisfy student visa requirements!

Thank you. No my course has not finished. I still have a year ahead and need to renew my visa but it will take time. I want to return in January till the end of my visa and then come back home to follow up the paper work. The question is, will I be stopped in the airport because I only have one month left before my visa expires? Is there a minimum period needed for me to be allowed an entry? :?:

You should be okay (20A), subject to 321A.

If course of study is not finished and you have a documentary proof of it, you can even enter on the day before your visa going to be expired. In your case as you are saying, you are a student who went back to home for festival/holidays and returning back to complete your course. Thats it!

I hope you did not forget to collect holiday letter from your college before going to your home country.
