Urgent question about maintenance/funds

Post by Panicked » Thu Dec 23, 2010 1:23 pm

Hi,

I'm getting ready to apply for my PSW. I bank with lloyds and have had the £800 in a savings account there for the last three months. I ordered my statements for this account from the bank two weeks ago, but never received them. I ordered them again twice last week but have still not received them for some reason. The bank says they can't do anything, they've ordered them and if i'm not getting them there's a problem with my mail. But there's no problem with my mail, i'm getting all my other mail including statements for my current account with the same bank. I'm just not receiving the statements for my savings account which has the £800.

I read in the tier 1 PSW guidance that the UKBA will accept printed online statements that are stamped by the bank and that include my name, account number, bank's name and logo, the transactions over the 90 day period and the date of the statement. So i was thinking of printing off my online statements and getting them stamped by the bank. But i'm still very worried because my name, the account number and the bank's name and logo only appears on the first page of the printout, not on all the pages. And the date that appears is the date the statements were printed out. Do you think the UKBA would accept my online statements? Has anyone here used online statements, stamped by the bank? Please give me your thoughts, i'm extremely worried and it seems my only option now is to send the stamped online statements as my original statements aren't getting to me.

The guidance for PSW applications states that the online statements must contain name, account number, date, name and logo and all transactions over 90 days. Arguably this does not state that the logo has to appear on every page. However it does state that the official stamp of the bank must appear on every page and although a letter from the bank is optional you could ask them to write a letter confirming that the online statements are authentice and that unfortunately their logo cannot appear on every page.
This should put your mind at rest.

The alternative is to just get the bank to write a letter confirming that you have held at least £800 in your account for the three month period. The letter must include your name, sort code and account number. In this case you don't actually need to send statements, just the letter but you can send the statements as well if you want to.

Some banks dont want to authenticate online bank statements.

Or the bank can print off adhoc statements but again their logo and stamp must appear on every page.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your responses. I actually talked to the bank manager yesterday and she was nice enough to write me a letter stating that i'd had the £800 over the last consecutive 90 days. Hopefully the letter alone will do the trick, but just to be on the safe side i want to also submit my online statements. She wouldn't stamp my online statements so I will check with another branch if they can stamp them. If i submit the letter and the online stamped statements, hopefully, hopefully it will be okay...

Hi, I experienced the same problem with bank statements, I received two months but not the third month. So my bank manager wrote a letter for me confirming I had a balance of £800 at all times during the 90 day period and I submitted the letter only and received my visa with no problems.

Hi, I also had the same problem and did not receive my statement from Lloyds for many days. You might have same problem. Infact I had selected "paperless statement" in my account online. Check the same in your account and uncheck the option. tc
