Is ILR possible without passing the Life In The UK test?

Hello everyone

Would really appreciate some advice if possible.

My wife's English is not good enough to pass the Life In The UK test. I have read that she may still be granted ILR if she has shown 'relevant progress' in her ESOL courses.

Unfortunately, she only started courses last Autumn and is now waiting for her results from her Entry 1 Listening and Speaking Exam.

Will this be sufficient or am I clutching at straws and should just apply for the FLR?

If she hasn't satisfied the KOL requirements, then she may apply for FLR(M). English Language test required.

When does her current visa expire? If she has completed one level of the ESOL course and has the certificate and letter from the college, this should be sufficient.

Her current visa runs out on 1st May. She should have her results from the first test soon. Should she pass, is this really sufficient to show 'relevant progress' as she has only had time to sit one test. I was under the impression they wanted her to show improvement from at least level 1 to 2 which would take at least a year if she passes all of her exams.

Not sure what to do as can't really afford to apply for ILR and for it not to be granted.

Has anyone been in this situation?
