The impact of P85 form on Tier 1 (General Visa)

Post by bchuaj » Wed Jan 05, 2011 2:07 pm

Hi,

I am Tier 1 (General Visa) holder and recently have decided to leave my job and leave the UK for a period of time. Prior to my leaving, I receive the P85 form together with P45 Part 1A, Part 2 and Part 3. I have since submit my P85 form to notify HMRC my intention to go aboard together with Part 2 and Part 3 of the P45.

I would like to know if upon making submission of all these forms, will they also terminate my Tier 1 (General Visa)? I'm asking this because I may still wish to return before my Tier 1 expires to look for a job in the UK.

Anyone with answers to this matter is very much appreciated.

Justin

Hi Push,

Will it affect the Tier 1 extension? i.e if someone has filled in P85 for FY 2010-2011 year and left UK for some reason and again they come back in FY 2011-2012 and restart the work in UK so will it affect his or her extension?

You can extend Tier1, if you meet the extension criteria then in place. When you return and start working again, you will be paying taxes.
