can I apply for extension 2 months prior to expiry

Post by nagendra » Wed May 24, 2006 7:28 am

Hi,
Can I apply 2 months prior for my HSMP extension. May I know how many applied like that and got extension. I heard if i send early HO will deduct money without granting extension. Is that correct? Any one know the link of HO website which shows clearly about the periods to apply for extension?

Looking forward for your post. Your help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, you can. Their official line is '5 weeks' but if you apply before that they still consider the case. As long as you can show you have been economically active and you can support yourself and any family members 'without recourse to public funds' they will still grant an extension.

Some proof of your likelihood of future work prospects wouldn't go a miss either.

Through the official line is 5 weeks. 10 days back I ring them, they clearly say to apply only before 4 weeks? As I was also thinking to apply before 2 months.
Still I guess we should apply with at least with 2 month remaining. 4-5 weeks is very less time if God forbid one gets refusal. Selling car, giving notice to letting agent, resigning from job etc.
I am planning to apply the moment my 2 months remain for visa i.e. in first week of June.

this things have been discussed intensively in the previous post
Indeed, the official line is 5 weeks but try to browse this forumyou will see a lot of people in this forum apply 2 months prior to the HSMP expire dates and there are not any complaint have been reported.

For Some people it is better to apply later 1 month or even 2 weeks prior to the HSMP expire dates because they just find a job for 1-2 months, and in this case it is better to wait until the last.
