Divorce pending here, recently married again abroad

Post by adnan111 » Sat Jan 15, 2011 2:07 pm

I separated from my wife about 3/4 years ago and I am in the process of applying for divorce. Last year I married someone in Pakistan and in a few years I am planning to shift there. However in a few months I have a child on the way and instead of going there to spend a few months with my wife every year I would like her to also sometime come here as well so that we can spend more time with each other, but ideally I don't want her to go through the process of getting a visa every year.

Can someone please advise and point me in the right direction? Also how do I go about getting citizenship for my child when he/she is born in a few months?

Regards

You have started off a new relationship without properly finishing off earlier one. - it could complicate things.

What's your immigration status in UK? Is your first wife still in UK? any kids with first wife?

You can't have two wives in UK, simple and straight, so in order to get dependant visa for your new wife & kid, you got to prove UKBA that you've legally divorced first wife and legally re-married with new.

I am a British National. I have one child from the previous relationship. I don't intend to apply for a spouse visa but just want perhaps a multi entry visitor visa for my new relationship so that we can spend more time together as a family both here as well as there, without seeking a new visitor visa every year. I am also concerned about the nationality of my yet to be born baby. Although I intend to move abroad in a few years I want my child to be able to travel with me to meet my family here from time to time.

Thanks for the reply. Can someone please comment about my child that is due soon. I understand that he/she would be entitled to British Citzenship even if born abroad. However would the authorities accept my legal second marriage in Pakistan or not? Do I need to be legally married to my partner for the child to get British Nationality? How do I go about in registering the birth with the consulate? What documents would be required? Would it be better to get nationality by descent now or wait for naturalisation for the child after my divorce here is finally completed?

Its late and I am probably not making much sense but any reply would be most welcome.
