Tier 2 Dependant - Visa Extention

Post by ENad » Fri Jan 21, 2011 1:04 pm

I'm living in UK on a Tier 2 Dependant visa which is due to expire on Sep this year while the main applicant's visa will expire in a year.. So I need to extend mine... But I can not find any information about the extention of this type of visa.

1. Can I extend my visa inside the UK?
2. When do I have to apply for the extention?
3. Which documents do I need to provide?
4. How long it is going to take for the embassy to make a decision?

Waiting forward for any help. Thanks.

Why is the expiry date on your visa different from your spouse's? Did he/she change jobs or apply for extension since you last applied for leave to enter / remain (visa), and did not apply for dependant(s)?

1. Yes.
2. Before expiry of current leave.
3. Read the policy guidance and the form.

Tier 2 Dependant - Visa Extention

Post by ENad » Fri Jan 21, 2011 5:08 pm

I don't know why the date is different. My spouse didn't change job and didn't apply for any extentions. Maybe the reason is that we were applying separate: first, he got the Tier 2 visa, then half a year later I applied for Tier 2 dependant...

And if my visa is due to expire on Sep, is it too early apply for extention now? And should I wait some time to be closer to the expiration date?

Thank you for your help.

An expiry date different from that of the main migrant is, therefore, surprising! Dependant(s)'s leave should have been valid until the expiry date of leave granted to the main migrant.

When to apply (now or nearer to the date of expiry) is your choice. Any new leave granted should have the same expiry date as the main migrant's.

it sounds like u will be applying for extension twice i.e first in sep then with main applicant after couple of months or even earlier... UKBA knows how to make dirty money from immigrants.
