Spouse settlement visa - loss of Job

Post by craig--saunders » Fri Jan 21, 2011 4:06 pm

Greetings to all,

My wife has recently (Dec) handed in her application for a settlement visa and we are still awaiting an answer. We have had an issue over the past month with regards to her employers in China, they know that she will eventually leave China and her employment to live in the UK and they do not like this! She is being bullied by her management team, she is very upset everyday and hates having to return to her job day after day. It is sad that employees do not have any rights in China therefor there isn't much that she can do other than quit!

If she did decide to quit work, will this have an effect on our application? She has a letter and pay slips from her company which have been submitted as evidence. We don't want to cause any additional delays with the processing of the application.

I would like to thank you in advance for reading this post, any help or advice what so ever will be very gratefully recieved.

Craig

As it will be expected that your wife will leave the employment in order to settle in the UK once the visa is granted, if she gives up her job now it shouldn't affect the ECO's decision.

Thank you Casa, we were thinking the same as you but wanted some sort of clarification.........with the Chinese spring festival on the 3rd of Feb, she will hang on in there for another week (as she will be allowed a weeks holiday), just in case and we hope that we should get our decision by mid Feb if all being well. Thanks again and if anyone else reading this post has any views or related stories then please post them!
