tier1 visa extension

Hi.

My current Tier 1 general visa is valid until 15 July 2011 which i'm planning to renew.
But my passport is about to expire on 08 June 2011.

How long before have to visa expiry do i have to post my tier 1 extension application?

Most importantly I'm managing my finances by my own limited company and been paying myself 12k year as salary and 24k in dividends ....will they consider dividends while giving me points and what sort of documenation do i have to show for dividends?
