full time employement

Post by raoul1987 » Sun Jan 23, 2011 1:04 am

do you have to work FULL time for the same employer in order to obtain tier 2 visa?
basicly if you work 40 hours a week, and got tier 2 from the employer. what happens to your visa if you decide to drop a day, i.e 8 hours and work 32 hours?
i am just curious, i still have not got tier 2 visa but wondering what do i need to do if i decide to drop a day for my sponser, and do some self employed work in the same profession.

also according the UKBA and in relation to visa issues, how many hours does a full time job stands for?

yeah but u can work in the same field, and do some extra work as self employed or for another employer, as long as u work for the same employer who sponsored your visa.
my question is, if the sponsor was for 40 hours, can you work for 30 hours only and notify UKBA, if needed, so you can do some self employed work in the same field?

there is formal way that you must adopt if you want to reduce number of hours, after cos has been issued. im currently researching on the same topic... so if you find anything, do post it here

i disagree and quote the following:

Extra jobs

You can do extra work to the job that you have a certificate of sponsorship for if:

* it is in the same profession at the same professional level as the job that your certificate of sponsorship is for;
* the work is no more than 20 hours a week;
* the work is outside the working hours that the certificate of sponsorship is for.

You do not need to tell Home Office about any extra jobs you take, and can do voluntary work in any sector.

i am still researching how to reduce the hours your work for the sponsor i.e from 40 hours to 30 hours for example, and whether i need to fill any relevant forms to inform UKBA

S
upplementary employment
You do not need to inform us of any supplementary employment, as long as it is:
191.
in the same profession and at the same professional level as the work for which your • Certificate of Sponsorship was issued; and
no more than 20 hours per week; and•
outside of your normal working hours for which your Certificate of Sponsorship was • issued.
In addition, you must continue to work for your sponsor in the job recorded on your 192. Certificate of Sponsorship.

have i misunderstood supplementary employment?

If i were you... i will think long and hard about it maybe get a confirmation from UKBA if thats fine by them...

i personally still stand by what i said earlier, but you are right , it might be OK with UKBA to be self-employed

it's not clear if the supplementary work can be done as self employed work or as an employee.

ive never heard of anyone doing self employed work while being on tier 2. It was something done by psw and tier 1 holders...

but then again... this hardly proves anything one way or another....

contact ukba....
