Visitor visa starting date

Hi,

My mum has just got 6 months visit visa for Uk which is valid from January to July. Someone was saying that the visa date will start when she'll first enter the UK is this right? e.g. If she enters in march the visa will be valid from march to august. Is this correct?

I know there is an expiry date mentioned on the visa but couple of people mentioned me this so i though better ask it here.

Visa starts from day of issue. The sooner she comes the longer she can stay in the UK ( up to a maximum of 6 months in any 12 months period )
