us citizen refused uk entry oct 2008,would they get in?

my girlfriend who is a us citizen was granted entry july 2008 for 6 months, we then went went to turkey for a week in oct 2008 and she was refused entry when we re entered uk. Stupidly i assumed because she'd been allowed in for 6 months in the july, there wouldn't be a problem so she didnt have proof of her january 2009 return flight to the usa or proof of savings in usa, immigration confiscated her pass port but gave her 3 days to come back to my house and collect her belongings. She returned to usa and has not tried to get back into the uk since.
She would like to visit me for maybe 2 or 3 weeks but is scared she will be refused. She is unfortunately currently unemployed, so that wouldnt look good to immigration.
what are her chances of getting in taking into account this was nearly 28months ago and she left when asked at her own cost?

With a visa refusal and no job to return to in the USA, her chances are very slim
